[ The coordinates she sends him are to the fountain. Nobody’s allowed to know where she lives, and her kitten hasn’t wanted to follow her into the inn itself. Too many human smells, probably. ]

[Lucky for her, Ravi would rather be going to the fountain and not to someone's personal house. It feels a bit too much when he's just met someone over a network.

Stranger danger and all, despite his age.

When he gets to the fountain, he's already looking for a woman her cat-bird, not entirely sure what he's expecting.]

[ Steph has the creature held close to her chest, and it looks positively blissful at the attention. She had black and white facial markings much like her male counterparts, but only the top of her head and down her neck are that nice iridescent blue-green. Her short-feathered tail is waving idly in the air.

The 17 year-old human girl is looking a little blissed out herself. Carrying the cat naturally requires a lot of contact with those endorphin-releasing oils. ]

Hey! Come, sit, meet Selina.

[Well, that is absolutely not what he'd expected when he'd been told about a cat-bird like this. It's a lot nicer looking than he'd expected and yet, he also thinks that it looks exactly like the sort of thing that might have your head, if you're not careful.]

Selina? Big fan of 90's R&B?

[He doubts it, but he had to make the joke, it's just what he does.]

[ She snorts a laugh, holding the kitten a little away from her chest to offer her up for petting. Selina grumbles quietly in protest, but turns those brown eyes on Ravi. ]

No, she's named for a friend.

You knew Selina?

[He's still joking and he knows, obviously, that she wasn't buddying up with a famous R&B singer who died so tragically young, but he needs the levity right now.]

So what exactly do I do with it to make it give me happiness?

[ She sticks her tongue out at him in response. ]

She's a cat. What do you think?

[ Ravi makes a face that says mainly 'what is cat' and 'does it have to like me' because he's not really a cat person and the dog hairs on his clothes should prove that. ]

I should leave it be and hope in five years time, it likes me? Is that roughly how cats work?

[ She snorts a laugh, and Selina meows imperiously. ]

Pet her, you dingus. I’m pretty sure getting scratched is just an accepted risk.

[zomboligist]

Is it, though?

[ He really doesn't know what to do with cats, because it's either a no-animal or a dog household, as far as he's concerned. Still, he is feeling pretty stressed, so he leans over and sort of taps the animal twice on the head. ]

Pat pat?

[ And yes, he did say that, because he doesn't want to get kitty-bird-mauled. ]

[ Steph snorts and rolls her eyes at the same time Selina mwwrts her disapproval. Steph reaches out a hand to grab Ravi’s wrist and force him to pet her properly. ]

[zomboligist]

[ He makes a face because this is how you get claws inserted into your body, though the cat (Selina, maybe he really ought to use her name) doesn't seem to mind him. He keeps going, a tentative and slow stroke, namely because it seems to be working. ]

I miss the tail wagging as a sign that I'm not about to get mauled.

[ Though, maybe he should shut up, because it really isn't so bad. ]

[ After a moment, the cat starts to purr. Her eyes narrow, but she keeps them open to watch the suspicious stranger. ]

I think that's what hissing and purring are for.

[zomboligist]

I mean, I still wouldn't trust a purring cat not to slash my throat. I mean, what if that's what made it happy?

[ He's being very facetious given that he's enjoying the way he's petting Selina and how it is starting to calm his mind, leaving the list of names sort of lingering at the back of his mind. ]

You're lucky you didn't pet her and find out that she accidentally shocks you or something.

I wasn't really given much choice. I let her into my room and when I woke up she was wedged against my arm.
