My name is Squall Leonhart, Commander of SeeD...mercenaries. [Still weird having to explain what that is. He frowns quickly.] I haven't introduced myself yet, but I noticed today I have control of fire. And that there are mice who can freeze things.

I'll be maintaining walks if anyone needs assistance. I'm familiar with fire spells with my training from SeeD, and I am happy to assist others in similar training as long as we have these fire spells.

I would also like to barter for some warmer clothes. I can provide meat, skins, and other raw materials.

[He pauses, realizing he has no idea how to wrap this up smoothly. It's been a long time since he's had to speak to a whole group before.] Squall out. [He ends the video quickly.]

Hi Squall, I'm Steph. There's clothes and fireplaces and stuff, but more importantly... Why would anyone call a team of mercenaries seed? As marketing goes, it doesn't really inspire confidence.

Ok, I feel like there's a lot going on in your world that would make this make sense to me, and I definitely want to hear about it, but this maybe isn't the right time for that.

You don't really need to barter for clothes. There's some in the storeroom, but not much. Check there first, bring me whatever fabric you want, let me take some measurements and I'll make something for you.

[Squall seems to ease slightly at the change to actual priorities. He hates the feeling of being judged, but she seems more reasonable now.]

I’m fairly new, so I haven’t gathered what it freely available. I wouldn’t want to take without giving something back. Of course, with winter here, I’ll need good clothes for going out. I owe you something for your time.

I ‘need’ to know just about anything.

Also, you’ll be paying me in entertainment. I get so bored, you have no idea. And I could use the practice anyway. I’m used to working from actual patterns.

I can mend my own clothes and make small adjustments, but I’ve never made something from the start. [Long pause.]. I’m not very entertaining, though.

Right? Who knew survival could be so boring.

I mean, I guess I did, what with all the ‘conserve energy and supplies’, but it still sucks.

Survival isn’t boring, but survival only from starvation and cold leaves a lot of time. I suppose we should be grateful.
