[Anne doesn't bother replying. Instead, she bundles up, grabs a bottle of wine she had set aside for Tony, and heads over to the forge.]

Hey. I come bearing a gift.

[She sets the bottle on a near table, turning so her could see the label. ] I had to guess what you liked, but it sounds like you could use a little pick me up.

[ He's sitting, winding and watching a small mechanical spider walk back and forth across his workbench. ]

Thanks, Anne. You're a peach- that's a thing people say, right? You're a peach? Why would you want to be fruit.

I think peaches are generally well-liked. I guess as far as fruit goes, I'd rather be called that than, say, an eggplant.

[She smiles at him, glancing at the little toy spider before glancing back.] How are you holding up?

Eggplant aren't fruit- wait. Are they fruit? Do we even have eggplant here? That's not something I ever thought I'd miss-

[ Actually, he doesn't really think he misses it. He might? ]

I'm here. He's not. At least maybe this time it didn't hurt? I don't know.

[Joking about phallic food aside, her expression goes sombre,] 'This time'? That almost sounds like I didn't bring enough wine.

We might burn up something useful. Telekenesis would be valuable but training that up might take longer than the week you get with the powers.

Bull shows up not too long after the message has gone out. He is quiet as he walks over to Tony and just places a hand on his shoulder.

[nonstopnarcissist]

He sags back against Bull's hand, scrubbing at his eyes. "...I need to get back to fix things. So he's not- dust."

[ataashihunter]

"I know. You'll get there." Bull just moves to pull Tony into a tight embrace. "But right now we should have a drink and some food and you can tell me about him, hm?"

Bruce's hair is growing out, not as long as it once was but enough that it curls around the edges when he's in the forge or around heat of some kind. He knows what Peter being gone means, and what it means for Tony. He walks right in and gives no preamble before he bear hugs Tony. "I'm sorry," he murmurs. Sorry for a lot of things.

Slumping into Bruce's hold takes the effort out of sitting upright or, well, thinking. He takes a slow breath, arms looping around his waist to hold on tight. It's an aching clench of emotion, not entirely unlike grief, not far removed from exhaustion. "We'll fix it."

Bruce didn't have as much time to get to know Peter, but he was a bright and earnest young man who was easy to like and admire. And worry about. He holds onto Tony tightly, rubbing his back comfortingly. "Of course we will." He really isn't so sure, but he sounds at the moment like he is. "He could come back in the meantime."

"I've done the math." He motions to a freshly scrubbed part of the wall, variables and statistics scrawled out. "Not good."

The odds are against it by an overwhelming margin no matter how he looks at it. Peter's gone until he wakes up here in the tubes or they undo Thanos' work. How they'll manage that- he doesn't know but- that's a problem for them when they get back. If they get back.

"Not good, but not impossible." Nothing was entirely impossible as far as he could tell. If he claimed it was, he felt like the universe would find a way to make it happen just to spite him.

Bruce knows his math wouldn't prove any better. Peter's gone either way. Hoping he'll come back won't change that. "I wonder where they go. Clint, Nat, now Peter. Do they go home or are they still here somewhere?" It isn't the most helpful of lines of questioning, except if they were still there somewhere, maybe they could be found.

"Wanda remembered going home but nothing about this place. But- she might have been just another version since we're clones and there's that whole shade to look at." He'd scrub at his face but curling up here is comfortable. He doesn't have to stare at the hard math, doesn't have to think about Peter being ash.

Going wherever he'd gone before.

It sure looked a hell of a lot like death.

"She remembered gong home, not this place, but then came back to it. Or something like that. It could also have been a simulation, thinking she went back at all." Bruce always felt better when he had something to latch onto. Sometimes that was just his glasses or his notes, but Tony was the best option anyway.

He pulled back so he could look at his face, worried of course. Tony lost a lot recently. Too many emotional blows. In some ways contemplating this was a distraction. "I keep wondering what we'll find if we keep finding more parts of the bunker. If we get access to the rest. We could find people, or if we are clones, find how it's being done."
