[The video starts on a young man that looks a bit tired, but if you know Nida you know that's probably status quo. At least he knows how to easily position his arm to get himself framed well now that the video's started. And, if you were one of those already lucky ~~or maybe unlucky~~ enough to know him, his nervousness is evident in how he runs his right hand through his hair, his main nervous tick.]

Hey, Nida here. Uh, so I've been trying to figure out how to approach this for a week or so now, since the 'party' thing that happened. And while I've been through this device and a lot of different filtering options, I can't seem to find one that will, sight unseen, just filter to young adults.

So to start, if you're over, let's go with around twenty-two, years of age, you can probably disregard this message. Sorry, this thing is entirely about being younger here and so not really looking for as much feedback from adults that adult-ier than that.

[He has the decency to cringe at that word choice. 'Adult-ier'. Yeah, he half expects grief from those 'adultier' people for even making this, but hey, he's had a number of people give him hard looks because they were judging what it was to be a young adult with his experience so, to quote his boss, 'Whatever'.]

So, for any of those younger folk who haven't just shut me off by this point because my entire thing has been lame so far, I've got a proposition. I mean, at the New Year's Eve thing I noticed there are a lot more of us that I'd really, I don't know, anticipated? Which isn't an issue of course. And I imagine that for people from backgrounds where socializing and school and frequent releases of new movies [a small pause because really the guy looks half puzzled at that idea] was really a thing, it can be lonely here. Especially without people your age to talk to.

Especially with how sometimes the adults here get very awkward over our life experiences because I know I've heard that expressed sometimes.

Anyway, what I've been thinking is that we're here, and maybe we should figure out what to do with that fact? I'm not saying we make a young people club. Just, you know, network. Not electronic network, more the whole 'make connections with other people' network. Maybe meet up sometimes, or at least know who other people our age are, know there are maybe couches to crash on when you need to get away from situations, or someone to listen when you've got to talk, or just to share backgrounds without the inherent 'those life experiences are too big for someone your age' worried looks the older people get.

So, well, to sum up. Because basically I seem to be rambling and I normally only manage that when I'm having discussions of things like magic.

We're young. They're not as young. Sometimes that makes tension. So let's make friends who are young? If that appeals just, chat up here for right now? We can maybe talk about having a meet up later this month if people want that. Like that knitting group or whatever but for hanging out.

[He knows Rin wouldn't mind using the house for that. Seifer he'll... maybe bribe to be cool with it? Worst comes to worst schoolhouse. Or see if Billy and Tommy could host?

Look at this guy, looking more awkward at the end than he ever did at the start. Clearly a strange mixture of the nervous high school, or college really, nerd and a really built jock. And he looks like this whole process was like pulling teeth. But he does manage something like a smile because he figures that's the best way to end this.]

I'm shutting up now. Okay.

[There's a very quiet, under the breath curse that can't easily be made out, but clearly Seifer or Rinoa would know it's him cursing Hyne.]

[Clearly starts back up only seconds after the last one ended, and he looks even more awkward if that is possible. Of course it is because the video is still pointed in the direction of his head. But said head is currently face down, hidden by the fact of being pressed against their kitchen table. And his voice is only somewhat muffled as he speaks.]

I mean, all of this isn't a stupid idea, right? You can't tell me you two don't get the judgmental looks whenever we bring up anything about life back home. I guess it might not be as always bad on you, Rinoa, cause you had something vaguely resembling a non-mercenary life, I suppose. But I've heard Billy [the first time he's actually used the name of the guy he talks about sometimes at meals with them to fill quiet gaps] mention how someone called 'Captain America' would give him grief for heroing and stuff, and I know Kamala was reaching out to try and talk to people when her birthday was coming up about what it's like to be older.

It's clear there needs to be some way for young adults and late teens people to have the sort of... possible social interactions, right? Even Garden got that, and I know how we were raised was weird. Just feels so much like I'm casting doom on myself because I'm on the older end of the range I made up, and I spend a lot of time trying to get some of the 'adultier' [he groans because what a stupid word he used, fuck Seifer's not going to let that go] to not make me feel actively like I have to prove myself. Literally had to fight a guy. I'll explain that over dinner but...

Dude, why not make it a club? No adults allowed! [he laughs.] Older people act like they know everything just ‘cause they’re older, it’s super annoying. I’ve fought alien invasions and helped save the world too, y’know?

[Is that a thunking sound in the background of an axe? Is Nida chopping wood right now? Does he have to be handling wood or in bed when talking to these twins?]

but I had heard some passing stuff about you guys saving worlds. Which you deserve credit for, and not grief.

Yeah, that’s seriously my username! Why wouldn’t it be? Speed is my name and my game - well, back home it is, at least.

[he sighs loudly. being tommy without his powers is suffering.]

And I just don’t get why people get so hung up on thinking kids can’t do anything just ‘cause we’re young. Me an’ Billy started doing hero stuff when we were sixteen. Some kids get into it even younger than that! And it’s not like it’s all that weird, lots of kids do the hero thing and they’re great at it! And yeah, maybe sometimes bad things happen to us, too -

[he stops abruptly, overpowered by the memory of cassie’s death. that sucked a lot. he quickly pushes that thought and the resulting feelings about it away.]

We’re not dumb, [he continues, tone notably more somber.] We know what the risks are, what we’re getting into. But if we all quit fighting just ‘cause we’re young, the bad guys win.

I think this sounds like a great idea! [Very excited tone!] Young people club!

[Nida can't help but chuckle.]

On my world, that's a term for a type of drug. But if it's not on yours, definitely better than, what was it, Asgardian? That's just all sorts of suggestive.

[Oh yeah, Tommy, here he feels you. Just because they are young. Be mad at the circumstances that meant they had to become who they are. Not judgmental of them. Please?]

I understand about the age thing. I had my first weapon in hand at ten. But I know my circumstances are a bit different. I mean, we don't get 'super powers' for one thing. But adults sort of assume that since we're young we can't make informed decisions.

Like we don't live in the same world and have to live with what happens if no one steps up.

[Rinoa's cleaning the inn's kitchen, which is quiet at the moment, but it can be seen in the background. She looks directly at the camera for this.]

Nidaaaaaaaaa don't second guess yourself, this was very thoughtful and it's a great thing. Adults always mean well but have a kind of I know better than you attitude. [She shrugs.] Which I mean, in some ways maybe they do, but not in all ways. You are adorable and this is going to be so much fun! Don't worry, I'll help you organize in any way you want, okay?

[She disappears from view again and then shows up.] Did you say Billy? He's so great! And Kamala too.

[Kat is curled up on her sofa, her peacock kitten purring happily on her stomach as she replies.]

That's a good idea Nida. I don't really know many people here. [She knows a few people but not as many as she should.] If you'd like to host a gathering, my house is available. I live here alone and I don't mind trying to get things together for a small party.

If nothing else, we could set up a Garden Festival.

And this is where I walk to the front door and look out, in case uttering the words has summoned Selphie.

[Yeah, his head is still against their kitchen table. This is it. This is the table he dies on.]

Rin, don't call me adorable. I'm twenty, I think I'm past that point.

[But he does lift his head at Billy's name. Did he say Billy? He looks shocked that he said Billy. He didn't mention any Billy.]

I tried to go to Kamala's birthday party. I don't know if you remember from my time around Angelo on the bridge but... Well, I'm very allergic to dogs. I didn't even get to go to her birthday party. I stood on their porch in the cold with a piece of cake to talk to her.

[Not mentioning Billy.]

[She laughs.] We'd only be so lucky! At least she might have some people here who are more musical.

That's a really great offer, especially as you have a peakitten. People like those.

[He frowns as he tilts his head to consider this.]

I would have to talk to my housemates to see if here would work, because maybe we could take Seifer into cooking but a backup in case he's ornery wouldn't be bad.

Or, you know, there would be an explosion.

Nope, you can be adorable until the day you die as an old man. Embrace the adorableness, it will serve you well in life.

[She loves to tease him. She blinks when his head picks up, peering curiously at him. What was that surprised expression for?]

That was very sweet of you to go, if that's the case. Relax, Nida, everyone's going to be psyched about this. If I remember right, Billy said he was on a teenage team even, so it's something they're more used to.

That's fine, I'll be the backup.

It's always good to have a back up plan.

[She doesn't mind since she has no one she has to clear it with.]

Eva is pretty good at a party. I think she likes the attention.

We should definitely throw a party. Like, lots of parties. Immediately.

I'd rather not. I fear that being here without real combat clothes and a weapon on my back makes people see me as too adorable and I can't get any guys into my... [Nope. Stop. Not talking sex with Rinoa.]

Combat class. That Danny's going to help me set up.

[And did you mention Billy again? Why are you looking at him strange. Nothing is happening. He just... looks shy for a moment but then it is gone. Instead there is a smile. Soft smile? No you are seeing things.]

And I know. Billy told me. Met his brother Tommy too. Sorta got the idea talking to Billy. He talks about his friends sometimes when he needs a break from him talking to me about a movie called Star Wars at night.

I completely understand. Julia likes to show up and demand petting. Except I am the only one in the house without gloves. Not always nice to wake up to.

Well that wouldn’t be a bad idea. Other than we just had that fake party. Do we need another so soon?

You should bring Julia over sometime. I'm sure Eva would like a playmate and I don't mind watching after them both for a bit.

[She doesn't know what kind of animal Julia is but Eva is fairly fearless and eager for all attention.]

Of course we do. One that doesn’t involve ballroom dancing or fancy dress.

You'd have to talk to Rinoa about that. It's her peakitten. I can't kidnap it. Or, you know... carry it without gloves.

Oh look, here she is now..."

[The video feed flips around to a little peakitten prowling in through the kitchen door.]

In a moment she's going to make noises and pretend that I don't know Rinoa fed her.

But... Ballroom is the only dancing that I know.

[Tommy had shown him some other stuff and that... he can't do that.]

[Rinoa rolls her eyes.] Right. Combat class. [ Like she's an idiot, Nida.] Adorable is not a bad thing. I think Squall's adorable. [ Not here, but adorable. She's just not going to focus on the one she adores, nope.]

[What she is going to focus on is that smile and what he's saying, and she seems very, very attentive all of a sudden.]

Wow, that sounds like a lot of talking going on. How interesting. [She grins.] What else do you talk about?

Rinoa? Squall wore leather pants so tight you could almost see everything about him. As a gay man, I can assure you that was beyond adorable. That was flat out hot.

[Won't admit that he's striking out in getting laid, but will absolutely own that he finds Squall attractive. And the longer hair older version? Even more. But then he has the decency to look ashamed and sighs before looking away. But that looking away turned into a small smirk, still not looking directly at the camera, as he thinks about Billy. So he misses the attentive look and the smile.

It's not his fault, normally when he talks using these devices there isn't video on so no one can tell he's being like this.]

Just movies. Home sometimes. Family. But mostly movies. He'll make some small aside and then bam, new movie or musical on the bed time circuit. He helps me fall asleep at night.

[Not really. He lays in bed and listens until Billy falls asleep or signs off.]

I mean ... it is the name of a drug too, but that’s not why I picked it. Ya gotta have a hero name that tells people right away what you’re about! So I picked one word that says it all - Speed.

[“quicksilver” was already taken.]

And yeah, it’s a good thing Billy ditched “Asgardian” when he did. If nothing else, I would’ve hassled him about it forever.

[not that tommy doesn’t find plenty of opportunities to hassle billy anyway.]

Damn, dude - ten’s pretty young to start fighting. Was there like a war or something where you’re from?
