(Maine's not a scientist, researcher, or intel guy. He vastly prefers to beat his problems into submission — which is what he's usually ordered to do. This whole 'figuring shit out' business? This is all new. So, he figures years are as decent a place to start as any.) ]

Some universes are apparently favored to bring individuals from more than others. It isn't out of the realm of possibility.

[Loki still doesn't really see the point of starting with the present year of one realm or another, but he's not exactly invested enough to argue the point when this person seems decided on their method of knowledge collection.

[ There's a notable pause before Maine responds. He's trying to remember why "Loki" seems familiar. Trying to place the nagging feeling that it has more than one meaning. But for the life of him, all he can bring to mind is the Icelandic-to-English translation of the word: ]

Knot is a closer translation, I suppose, if you were to demand one. But I expect I don't have to convince you of how often meaning is lost when bringing things from one language to another.

Do you often spend your time over analyzing the given names of those around you?

If I were to be the helpful sort, I'd advise you to get use to that with a quickness. Little about this place isn't unusual.

It's been my experience than plenty do enjoy a good story from time to time. Being free with one's speech does generally help.
