[Leonardo cannot be seen at first, just the side of the northern inn, as he curses quietly in Italian off-screen.] How is this ... mio Dio ... can I be heard? Hello?

[He glances at his wrist and is still not aware that he is on video, putting his mouth close to it as if it is audio only and he thinks this is the only way to be heard. His voice is enthusiastic at least.] Hello I am Leonardo da Vinci, it is a pleasure to be here! [After a pause.] Perhaps not in the strictest sense as we are prisoners or kidnapped, but it could be far worse, we could be in a cell.

What was I saying? Ah! I have been informed that many of you are from future in which there are flying machines and technology that is similar to this strange instrument on my hand, and I wish to know more about such things.

[His face backs up so he can actually be seen, still in his violet scrubs although he has a coat and a hat on even inside.] I would also wish to know if these spaces in the village to the north are free, as I am without a workshop. Or objects. Or materials. But everyone starts somewhere! I should stop, Ezio always knew when to stop me.

Grazie! [A long pause as he tries to shake his hand and the video up and down.] How do I turn it --- [It ends.]

[Yeah, the look Leonardo is getting is definitely curious and a bit confused.]

So now they're yanking major figures in history, huh? Gotta love the balls of the people behind this place.

[He chuckles, shaking his head.]

Way I knew it, all the public buildings are open to whoever wants to use them? I guess. I'm one of the few living up in the other village, and one of the few using things up here.

We turned the police station into a barn. Well, we're working on it, and we use the blacksmith building to work on trying to shoe the kirin we care for but again, like I said, I just always assumed unless it's a house, it's pretty much public domain.

Just what are you hoping to make, Leo?

[Leonardo is better this time about not getting too close to the video. He does not understand what Bobo said first, but moves on.]

Ah, I have come up to that area, it seemed best to have more space. While I do like the busy streets of Italia, it is difficult to get anything done. I've done much to block the sound of the city out, but --- [He shrugs. What can he do? It is as it must be, to continue his success.]

I have seen the makeshift barn! Reeve is working on a more official one, no doubt for the spring, I plan on helping, although I merely dabble in architectural design. [Somewhat false, as he is very skilled at it, but it is informal enough to not be his profession.]

That is a good question! [He smiles.] I do not know yet! What is needed?

Yeah, that I can accept. Why I came up this way myself. To get away from everyone and the noise of people around.

[He's curious, but they've put some time and thought into things, but most of what they have planned out is Bobo thinking ahead.]

I don't think we're going to worry about a true barn up north. Not me and my roommates. Which makes up more than half the people up north, far as I can tell. Others come up, they might do it. I figure it'll happen eventually. People moving up this way.

You come up this way, go by the house just behind the blacksmith. There's always a pot on over the fire. I do some butchering and try and keep food on. May one day in the inn up there as well but for now it works at the house. I've got too many projects going on up there so I'm spending a lot of time up there now.

[He has those working at the butcher shop, so now he knows he needs to take time for his people.]

You should ask around. I know the things I'm figuring out to make our lives easier, but I couldn't say what the village on a whole needs. I'm mostly trying to keep me and mine in food and warm enough they don't bitch too much this winter.

[He grins at that.]

Unless you can figure out what time machine they used to snatch us all up here. Could be helpful for some.

The animals I hear are currently held in the jail, so a barn in either location would be helpful, for their sake if nothing else.

[He's listening carefully to what Bobo is saying.]

Ah, there is another smithery, good, it may be the place to set up. That is very kind of you to offer, I will take advantage no doubt. I am surprised to see so few people here, but I suppose like in cities people do like to group together in a community. I would go up there myself, but I am hoping to stay close to the fountain for now. [In case Ezio shows up.]

If I can put together a resource list, I might offer upgrades to weapons, it is one of the ways I assisted my friends in Firenze. I also might make a better boat to the .... [He's searching for a word.] The place in the water that leads underground to another place? I have not created ships before, but boats, that I know.

[Leonardo laughs.] I only wish I could, my friend. I do not understand electricity, let alone time machines.

With a four hour walk each way, our animals are kept to the north location. I wouldn't move them down because it's going to be too much of a walk in bad weather. We're convert the police station up there, working on adding a pen for turning them out, but if it's just for us, no reason for a barn up here. A lot more using the space in the other village though so it makes sense.

The villages seem to mirror one another the best I can tell. So anything you find in the main village is likely to be up here as well. There's firewood nearby too, though if you're doing a lot of work, let me know. I've been harvesting for the maybe five of us living up this way.

[Bobo knows why he doesn't care about having a community. Not the bigger one. He's always been the outsider, and so have his roommates. It makes sense for them.]

For the bunker. Yeah, I admit I haven't even been there. Not worried about whose name is on that list, and I'm not indebting myself to our kidnappers to get back what they took from me. Though, let's be honest, I'm not as eager as some to leave.

Thank you, Signore ... delray? [He taps the screen and it's heard, before he stops.] You are very kind to offer. I will admit I have never truly cut wood before for myself, but there is a first time for everything.

[Leonardo peers closely.] Why are you not eager?

Just Bobo. That works fine.

If nothing else, there will be wood for the forge. I haven't a damn clue how they work but going to try and work out horseshoes with something I got recently.

[Bobo shrugs, fairly casual about it all things considered. Though he hasn't seen how it happens yet either.]

I'm pretty sure I'll be killed soon. Not to mention this is the first time I've been free of that place without pain in a long time.

I would be happy to show you how to make horseshoes if you would like instruction. I know how to make many things. The materials is what I fear I will be lacking in days to come for the forge, but I will think of something!

Supplies are not a problem. I got one of those weird supply boxes the other day. Handful of bars of mild steel about a foot long each.

also iron nails in various sizes. Some could work for the shoes. Some I'll have for working on a paddock.

Flying machines? We have no such thing in my world.

[ The creature on the screen is definitely not human and in fact looks exactly like what you'd think a demon should look like. Grey skin and horns and all. ]

Yes flying machines! I don't know how they work. I made my own designs and concepts, you see, it was an obsession of mine, but quite impossible. [He sighs dreamily.] To fly like a bird. I did manage to make something that allowed my friend to glide on the winds, but it was hardly flight itself.

[ Leonardo glances down to the video and then blinks, coming in very, very close so it's barely more than his big eyes.] Extraordinary! [He gasps, and leans back again.] Is this truly you? I have never seen such. Venom is not the only marvel I see, how exciting!

Marvel is the right word. [ Bull chuckles. ] Keep talking like that and I'll make you dinner sometime. I take it you have not seen Qunari before.

What is Venom?

The closest we have to flying is magic, or dragons.

Oh? That would be very kind, cooking is one of those things I always told myself to learn and never did. A fool who spends all his time on impossible flying machines and not remembering to eat! [He smiles brightly.] A Qunari, no. I never heard of it before, but you are fascinating. Those horns are magnificent. I can't see them well, would you mind leaning back?

[As if hearing that out loud, Leonardo winces.] Oh that was asking too much, wasn't it? My curiosity gets the better of me, I do not mean to stare. Venom is a ... symbiote. [He is still leaning the right wording, it sounds wrong with his accent.] He and his human share a form, it is the most incredible thing.

[ Bull blinks and then chuckles to himself, this guy is clearly not aware of flirting. Bull will have to change that, that is for sure. But he does as he is asked, leaning back to show off both his horns and his body. And yes he seems to be more or less naked from what the screen shows. In one of the houses, on a pile of pillows. ]
Not too much to ask at all. I don't mind giving people the full view.

[ He frowns at the description of Venom though. That does sound a lot like a demon. ]

We have creatures like that in my world. We call them demons. Who is his human?

[Leonardo is not aware at all of flirting, nor does he question that the man is in a bed. He is far too focused on the horns and form. And the ears!] I have never seen such a person! What is your name, Signore? I wish I had my paints here. [He would never have a chance to paint someone like him again.]

Ah, it is Signore Eddie. He is very kind. He and Venom explained more about themselves. He comes from another planet. [Leonardo says that like it's the most extraordinary thing he's ever heard of. And it is.]

I am the Iron Bull and I am sure we could make something that is like paint. Charcoal sticks if nothing else.

Eddie? Has a demon inside him?

The Iron Bull, is that a title? It is very dramatic, I like it. And it makes sense, with those incredible horns.

[He is touched by that kind thought and smiles.] Ah, thank you, I am certain I will find a way to come up with it myself, but I will always accept assistance.

Yes! No? He said it is a symbiote, that is the word. They live in harmony within one form.

[ Tony has to stop his forging, the dull ringing of hammers in the background as the rest of the smithterns continue to cast and mold and forge as he steps into the duller, quieter storage room. ]

Leonardo da Vinci. The Leonardo. Actual, legitimate renissance man, inventor, painter, and genius. You're him.

[ He loves the sound of hammers and smithing, so he leans in a little too close before remembering not to do that and moving back again.]

Oh! [He has some small amount of fame in his time, or at least rich clients, but he's new to those descriptions.] I am an inventor and painter, yes! What are you working on? [ His apparent fame can wait, his curiosity never can.]

A little of everything. Mostly stakes, gears, and building supplies. One of my Smithterns is melting down ore, we're working on steel production today. Hammers.

[ He shrugs, easy as anything. Kids, what can you do? ]

But you- you're actually. Wow. I think I might need a minute.

Building supplies for what? Steel for what? [He's very curious, blue eyes excited and focused on the screen now.]

Ahhhh, I see, you are an art lover! Did one of my buyers show you a piece?

A barge run by the mill to run people and supplies up and down-river to the Southern Farm we've got set up. Better climate, easier farming. Keeps the food stores high.

[ He wipes his forehead with the back of his other hand (not the one with the device) and huffs a quiet, incredulous laugh. ]

Uh- no. Though I do think I might own one of your sketchbooks? It's in storage or. In a museum. Art's fantastic but that's not how I know you I mean- I'm from the year twenty-eighteen and you? You're kind of famous for being brilliant.

[Leonardo claps.] What a brilliant idea. I would be honored if you'd let me help you. I agreed to help Reeve with his barn, and I thought about patching up the boat to the place in the water where people can go underground. It is rickety.

[He pauses and looks somewhat confused, and then flustered.]

Oh! Yes I ... I know that people are from the future. That is where the flying machines are. I am astonished to know I am still remembered. I suppose it is what all artists strive for. [Leonardo was not one of them, that's all. He did it for the love and the work, not the fame. His eyes brighten.] I am known for more than my art? That is incredibly gratifying to hear, thank you. I must admit I was more passionate for my side projects.

Aqueducts, trollish war machines, flying machines- [ Tony counts off on his other hand all the ways Leonardo is known, is remembered. ] You've worn a lot of hats and people know you for most of them.

Seriously, if you come down to the forge I'll show you what we're working on with the mill- right now the hold up is having enough rope for the whole system but a fresh pair of genius eyes? Can't go wrong.

[Leonardo listens with increasingly widening eyes, and his hand goes to his heart. Sincerely moved.]

Ah, Signore, you have no idea what that means to me. It was my hope to leave more than art behind. [Honestly he might have hugged him if he was there in person, so it's best it was this way.]

I would be pleased to. I often found myself stuck on a project and a new perspective helped. Even if that was me dreaming foolishly or breaking something first. You should have seen my first dozen attempts at my flying craft!
