Sex is a great distraction in general, my go-to. Perhaps about the strangers, but true comfort comes I think from people who know you better. I didn't die for the wrong reasons, but I am dead, so if your dead friend wants to drink I am an excellent drinking partner.

They were killed, assuming that you meant that literally. Regardless of whether or not they recovered, the intent to harm was there. If they press charges, then they may be able to remove the opportunity for their killer to make any further attempts.
