It's hit and miss. A kid named pita died soon after I got here and hasn't come back. The people who do come back show up in the tubes again.

Well, a lot of people have gone with 'an eye for an eye'. I would also probably choose that option. In my friend's case, they can't.

Keeping busy is one way of coping that I haven't heard of yet.

Mankind was the vulnerability. Mankind was the threat. I know that doesn't make any sense. What happened was to prevent a repeat and the killer died because of it.

My friend would say there's never a good reason to kill someone. A guy I represented in court would say some people have forfeited the right to live in or supported by society and thus should be executed.

It's something I think about, knowing about the vigilantes in the city, though. Having worked with one.

As for actual coping mechanisms -- I'm very much a fan of alcohol and distractions, but those are few to find here.

It used to be just the fountain. Before I got here, everyone was locked in a simulation, don't know how they arrived then but it seems to change up every 6 months or so.

It does! See, you've got that. Except there's no bloody herbs here to handle the baby problem, not that there are any babies here. And I haven't heard of anyone having them. But still, might be something we should look into, there's herbs here, surely there's a remedy.

Alright. Fine. Then we’ll stop sleeping together. It’s already been two weeks. What’s another two weeks, months, years.

[ She sighed. It sounded muffled towards the end, her hand going over her face. ]

Okay, well, then... I guess we’ll just keep sleeping together. Because that’s just how some people cope with their situation. But seriously—and honestly—they aren’t wrong, I agree. We shouldn’t be bumping uglies. What I don’t agree with is that you think you’re not good for me; that’s for me to decide. Yes we do need to work through things but it’s not going to be fixed overnight.

Let’s just figure things out, first. Go from there. Figure out what kind of a “relationship” we really have.
