Rinoa was dating a SeeD. Our commander actually. It's pretty serious. Selphie and Irvine got together, Zell's got a girl he likes...
I wouldn't call it my thing, but there are both types. And the type with emotional connections and relationships isn't highly encouraged.
I think it's more the HOW that matters than the HOW LONG.
