I think you are right to be cautious, but I remember coming across something similar to this before. It wasn't exactly like this, but there were a number of tubes containing samples from every plant, animal and person in the village.

It's possible they wanted us to see this and watch our reactions. More of their strange experiments.

[it has been quite a while since jason’s answered any distress calls - years since he’s been robin, and the red hood is more concerned with revenge than rescue. but after that episode in wonderland that saw him sixteen again, after talking with steph about who he used to be, it’s been on jason’s mind more - how he used to be so willing to throw himself into danger to save innocent lives, and the idea that he should’ve done more.

and besides, he has nothing better to do at the moment. he may as well investigate, if for no other reason than to see if this distress call is trouble in disguise.]
