Back home, I was a zookeeper at the Columbus Zoo reptile house, and oversaw breeding programs for several endangered species, and have a number of degrees in zoology.

Were I to offer a class on animal handling, care and possibly husbandry, would people be interested?

If you're alright with my teaching style being a bit dry. Most of the questions I got on zoo tours were variations on "why is this so boring?"

Hello Alex. It's Wanda. We met before and I'm sure you've realized this but I could use some help with animal handling and care.

Arado is well trained but there are a lot of animals that I am now trying to take care of.

Great to hear from you again, Wanda. I'm sure we could probably even make the small zoo you've gathered something of a class project, if we get students without their own pets or livestock and you're willing to give up a few chores here and there.

Excellent, we can probably get that chicken coop upgraded a little, maybe even help expand the flock a little- you do have at least one rooster, right?

Otherwise the avian portion of the husbandry classes might have to use those native geese. Which. Is not going to be ideal, since I've meet geese before. [ Duck, geese, swans- all water fowl are jerks. Jerks that make excellent eatin', thankfully. ]

Excellent! You'll have to forgive me if I ask for your help with some of the heavier livestock, once lessons get that far.

[ Bull seems like the kind of guy who can lift a goat if it's needed. ]

Of course, what kind of livestock are we talking?

I still have no idea what groffle live birth is like, so honestly, I'd like someone strong enough to lift the calf if something goes wrong.

The faster we get the livestock to breed, the less we can rely on trapping or hunting them.

Well, it might, given talons, teeth and claws are a factor. But I'll at least be waiting until well into the class before bring in practical work.

Well, yes. But I feel like that's a more expected sort of potential for harm. And one that can ideally be avoided.

Mimizing harm to both human and animal will probably be the focus of most of the early lessons. Start small working with Wanda's chickens, maybe.

Somewhere my grandmother is shaking her head in disapproval that I'm not just handing out something akin to a box of taipans and telling people to "figure it out or die horribly."

Sign me up. Have you had a chance to study much of the surrounding wildlife?

As much as I can, which really isn't enough. I've spent a lot of time watching the crocodile dogs, and just took in a litter of peacat kittens when I went out on Tony's mining expidition. They remind me enough of the pet I had back home that I should be able to get them ready to be adopted out within a few weeks, depending on how fast they mature.

You didn't adopt any of the crocodile dogs too?

What pet did you have back home?

Not yet. It's probably only a matter of time before one follows me home given how much time I've spent watching them in the wild.

A church griffin. Imagine what you'd get if a raven and a Maine Coon cat loved each other enough to defy commonly accepted biology.

Excellent. I'll be starting the lesson plans with people with absolutely no experience in mind, you should be fine.

But bored. You might also be bored. I'm not the best public speaker, so this should be a learning experience for everyone.
