UN: Reeve T., Text, OTA

Good afternoon all, my name is Reeve and I thought it would be prudent of me to share in a bit of good fortune which I have awoken to this morning. I do not know where it came from, but it seems I was the recipient of a box containing some supplies I have noticed are a bit lacking around here.

Which is to say paper.

A lot of paper.

In fact, a full two reams of white paper. That's 1000 pages for anyone who has not spent the majority of their lives in an office environment.

A thousand sheets can go a rather long way, and while I intend to retain a portion of this for my own work (among other things I'm a trained architect and city planner and hope to put this to use for our betterment), I would like to share in this bounty. So the question is whether there is a call for paper for anyone? I will admit I'm woefully short on writing utensils and cannot as easily let those out of my possession, but I'm sure we can improvise a suitable solution. I do not doubt that creation of ink will be possible, and from there the creation of at least quills may be viable.

And there I am, getting off subject.

Basically I have paper to spare and would be happy to see it used. Would anyone be interested in such?

ETA: Ah, it occurs to me that while I have attention, I am happy to share my services with anyone who might require them. Are there things that may need built or designed for building? I could also help with drawing up designs for other devices if you have a knowledge of how they should be shaped/function. I cannot guarantee those as high of quality, but my assistance is yours.

[OOC: I'm a little behind too but let e know if this is okay!]

[Kat's home is exactly where she'd directed him but to make sure he doesn't walk past it, she keeps the front door open. She's been toying with the idea of marking her home somehow but with not way to do that, the idea hasn't gained much traction.

She has water boiling for tea and her notes are laid out over the table. A small feathered kitten is running around the house and Kat can be seen jogging onto the front step to scoop the little kitten into her arms before it can run away.

The fire in the kitchen is lit and the house is pleasantly warm for how colds its been outside.]

Come in.

[Kat calls out as she steps around the corner and into sight of the door. She has a wiggling kitten in her arms that looks determined to free himself and come say hello.] Could you close the door behind you? This little one keeps wanting to get out.

Sure! Let's switch!

"Thank you." Kat released the squirming kitten and let her wander about the house now that she couldn't get out. For a kitten who had come into her home injured, it had a startling sense of bravery. "Please come in. I have my notes on the table if you'd like to look at them."

It was a single thin notebook with different plants pressed into the pages and rough sketches of the animals that Kat had run into. She took to writing in margins but it was all decently legible.

"Would you like some tea?"

I got you :)

"I don't have much but I do have some black tea. It's the closest thing to coffee that I have." Kat disappeared back into the kitchen, taking his reply as a yes. She reappeared with a dark cup of tea for Reeve and a light floral smelling tea for herself. She took a seat next to him, placing his cup in front of him before reaching for the paper he'd brought.

The paper was a normal thickness and something she could absolutely get a needle through.

"Most of the plants are from my garden but the ones towards the end are from down the river. I haven't been able to explore too far because I had to stop once it got too cold."

"That's why I stopped." Kat settled in at his side and patiently sipped her tea. She had always been good at waiting and her time within the village had only honed that skill.

"I hope to continue my research in the spring. Until then, I'd like to study whatever animals are around in the winter. It'll be good to know for future food stores. If we track where these animals are." It wasn't information that Kat could use because she didn't know how to hunt but this wasn't just for herself.

"I can see. I need to reach out to people anyway." She had told Anne that she would but she hadn't known exactly what to say. Kat didn't spent a lot of time reaching out to the whole network of those trapped on the island.

It made her a little uncomfortable... maybe because she was alone.

"The lightening one is the most dangerous. I've collected others and found poison ivy and a few other lightly poisonous plants. It's easy to spot since the animal life avoid them as well." Which was how Kat had figured out what she could eat from the forest.

"Another bridge?" Kat asked curiously. It wasn't a bad idea but they'd need to place it somewhere useful, otherwise it might just be a waste of resources and time. Not that Kat would be helping since she knew nothing about building bridges.

"Oh, there might be places that are harder to cross that could use them but I'm not sure." She placed her mug down and picked up the paper that Reeve had brought her. She already had the thread and needle ready and began to lace the sheets together like she was sewing.

Do it!

"I thought that mountains were too far away to mine." From Kat's estimation it was a several day hike to and from the mines but she didn't know for sure. She hasn't timed it without stopping and doing something else.

She didn't even know what you needed to look for to mine or what you could mine or if there were veins in the earth around here.

Kat missed the city.

Kat paused in her work and looked over at Reeve. "Do you know where the ore is?"

She knew a lot but he'd have to start explaining these things from square one. Kat was too used to the city, where you bought everything that you needed.

"Oh. I hadn't realized there was a mine here." She paused thoughtfully and then asked a follow up question. "How far away is it? I haven't explored much beyond the river but the other town is more than a hike away." Kat's perception was a little off since she'd grown up in a city where everything was relatively close together and there were cars.

She missed being able to drive places.

"It'd be a good project. I imagine that Tony would be eager to have ore."

"Ah. I see." Kat continued to lace up the pages and then tied off the string. She took a small sip of her tea then, no bothered that it was a little cold. "Then if I get a chance, I'll take a look for you. There isn't much I can do in the winter and if the sky's are clear it shouldn't be a problem."

He might not need her too but it was something to do and Kat craved distractions.

"I will." She didn't realize how dangerous it could be, Kat's never ventured that far from the village but she trusted herself to at least be smart about it.

"I finished the binding if you'd like to take a look at that too." She pushed the bound collection of papers towards him and reached for her tea to focus on the room temperature drink.

Kat nodded her head. "Thank you for bringing the paper by." She paused and glanced towards her kitten. "I don't have any here but there is a tea that is often used as a sleeping agent. I think there might be some at the inn or possibly at the hospital. It might be worth looking into if you're having trouble." She might be wrong but she remembered Vergil mentioning something along those lines.
