@everyone (un:mayor hotdog)

[ that's right, frank is reprising his old title. more for recognition than because he wants to assert any sort of authority. he just has something Important to ask everyone. he looks nervous, but it's no more than usual, if you know him. if you don't, here he is. a hobo dad with a bone to pick. he doesn't make eye contact with the feed, but one will notice him signing one-handed as he goes, like it's automatic and he doesn't even realize he's doing it. it brings that leather bracelet he always wears into focus, woven in the celtic knot for 'leader' if anyone were familiar with such things. ]

I've been here about six months now, yeah, and... I've, I've seen a lot of weird shit. [ he quirks the tiniest, lopsided smile. ] That's not really limited to this place though.

Anyway, when I came here, me and a couple other people noticed we had superpowers. Stuff we could do we couldn't before, and I never really thought there was a pattern, 'cause a lot of people say they don't have powers or if they do they've never manifested. And sometimes we get temporary stuff, like all this fire and ice shit... Well.

[ he has to clear his throat - this is already so much more than he usually says at one time. he snaps his fingers to bring out the pyrokinesis he's been honing, a lively flame dancing over his fingers. but then he's shrugging and picking back up the sign as he speaks again. if you know any type of sign language you'll recognize a few words, but that it's different from the one you're familiar with. ]

Two things: I think the abilities might be related to the colors we get. Three red scrubs I know can all do the same thing. But that's not really scientific without a bigger sampling, okay, I know, so I was thinkin'... If anyone wants to try and force 'em out, I might've figured that out too. I've seen it happen when people are in danger or really stressed out, so if we can simulate that, we can probably see if there's any merit to this theory.

If you already know what this place gave you, you could tell me what you can do and what color your watch is. I'll go first: I'm a teal scrubs and I can sense imminent danger. And if you don't know yours and this sounds like something you wanna do, I'm at House Six like usual.

Uh. Yeah, that's it. Hotdog out.

//IC EDIT AFTER THE FACT://

In light of guests I have staying for the Winter season, I'll take my meetings at South Village Fountain Park. We can head out from there if anyone wants to do something stupid.

I am NOT volunteering to attack/scare/whatever you and your friends. You guys can do that to each other and let me know what happens.

OK now that's really it back to whatever the fuck you were doing

[ Hey, Frank. Blaine is eyeing that username, for certain, but he's also interested in the post itself. Nobody's mentioned superpowers to him before, not so explicitly and not linked to his clothing, for certain. He sounds curious when he responds. ]

So I was given red scrubs -- not usually my color, but I digress -- what does that usually mean? The other night I did spontaneously burst into flames, but it sounds like that tracks more with your temporary "fire and ice shit"?

[ Blaine switches to text seamlessly -- he's inside so it's warm enough to do so anyway, and the pause is him considering this "bubble force field" thing. ]

Huh. Haven't triggered anything like that, but the mouse trying to turn me into a popsicle is what brought on the fire, yeah. It was pretty freaky.

How are you guys testing the other powers? I've got a pretty high panic threshold most of the time.

Oh. Fun times.

I think I'd rather leave it to chance than play punching bag, honestly, but I did catch the offer there.

You're a generous fella, Frank, anybody ever tell you that? I'll let you know if I do ever make a force field, though, so you can add another tally mark to your list. I will admit I was curious about what the colors meant.

[ A few minutes later, after the edit, another message comes in: ]

Okay, now I've gotta ask about the mayor hotdog thing.

I can't throw stones, I changed my name to "DeBeers." And then there was John Deaux, I've used that one for business licenses for ages. Thing is, people don't seem to get it...

[ Franks, hotdogs, that seems easier somehow. ]

There's no mayor here, though, right? You made it sound like more of a hippie commune.

I get it, man. Maybe most people here just don't come from worlds with hot dogs, who knows?

That's a weird taunt.

I meant the mayor hotdog thing. So the network was sentient?

Probably these Observers on the other end fucking with us. How they'd know something like that, though. Huh.

Not a fan, man, I'm not a fan.

It's nothing anybody would ever need to know. That's why I doubt they do, for all their claims of omnipotence.
