[It's video for a change, although all that's on camera is the ceiling of Sam's room at the Inn. She's been working on a mural actually. It's the underbelly of a dragon, wings outstretched as it lifts up into the sky. Still little more than a pencil outline at this point. And it's missing both a head and a finished tail. But there's an enormous amount of detailing in the scales. It's no Sistine Chapel. But then again, it's not trying to be.

The camera moves as Sam speaks, as if she's gesturing with her hand. Her face never appears, but the disaster zone that is her room appears in flashes.]

Can someone tell me what the fucking point of turning twenty two is?

I mean, seriously. Bar or Bat Mitzvah at thirteen. QuinceaƱera at fifteen. Super sweet sixteen, whatever the hell that is. Donate blood at seventeen. Vote at eighteen. Drink at twenty one. All the good milestones are gone. Twenty two is a filler year. And don't say you can rent a car at twenty five. My world is literally flame and rubble. I'm never renting a damn car.

[She sighs.]

Anyone still alive after that party?

Other types of dragons are basically mutations of lizards and the like. Hexadragons are pure lunar creatures. They're toxic and they don't look a lot like other sorts of dragons. Especially not like the one you've got drawn on your ceiling. That looks a bit more like a Ruby.

Also their blood is toxic so you can't eat them.

That's a really good question. Who knows why monsters come from the moon. But they do.

Honestly, it makes me feel weird to be here sometimes, how small the moon is in the sky. But apparently there isn't Lunar Cries so... safer.

Okay, are you trying to get me to use some terrible line like 'does that mean your body is out of this world?' Because I'm not Irvine and I have standards about lines like that.

Usually.

[You can't see it what with this being audio, but he's pinching the bridge of his nose. Sam, you are not a monster by definition of his world.]

But your point is sort of, well, pointless. Except for the fact that on my world 'Moon' would not be used as a surname. Basically, you're a human, just a human with different abilities. Which happens. A lot. I've got friends who have fought women who were like eight feet tall and more muscled than you can imagine with ashy white skin and unbelievable magical powers. Still a human.

Monsters are either creatures that fall from the moon, or plants, animals and insects that are mutated due to contact with these creatures. Or, sometimes, skeletons. But people aren't monsters. They can be monstrous in their actions, but you're just a young woman with a rare condition.

Fine, we'll just agree that by the standards of my world, you aren't a monster. Because you don't literally come from the moon, falling to the planet with a rush of other monsters. Or are mutated by said monsters, which people can't be.

Good. Then we can agree and I can admire your piece of art there. Jealous that I don't have any art supplies myself.

Mixing paints? Is that difficult?

[Thing is, he's not an artist. He's... just trained in drawing people and locations because it's useful for his work]

I wouldn't want to waste your supplies.

Maybe someone in town knows how to do it well and you can get advice?

I only know how to work with pencils or pens. Paint is so beyond me.

I wouldn't mind watching and hanging out. But I don't know that I'd mess up your paint and I bet you don't have a lot.

Oh. Wow. I really misunderstood. Well... maybe the schoolhouse has some books on painting and how to do that sort of stuff?

[It is a good dragon. It needs color.]

Wanna go check?

Well I'm going to head over and check to see if they've got a section on art.

I have a great ear for voices, so I was going to rely on that. But yeah, blue hair.

Hope you're thinking about colors for your dragon dame, because we're going to figure this out.
