First point: if we know each other, can you please let me know you made it safely back to the village? This is faster than me running around knocking on everyone's doors and camping out on your front steps until I confirm it myself. (But I will do that too if you don't respond, jsyk.)
Second point: Does anyone have any experience or tips about the area to the south? Landmarks, wildlife, plants to avoid, things like that.
[FILTERED TO: THOR]
I'm sure you can take care of yourself, but you count as part of that check-in too, fyi.
Also, in better news, this is me telling you I need to take your measurements. (Don't make it weird, it isn't weird.)

[ A pause, a consideration, as she weighs the fact that he lives up north and she'll be out of town for a bit too— ]
You've been helping me train this whole time, but I promise I have not forgotten our deal! When's the next time you're going to be in town?

[ And then they hit on the subject of Loki, and— ]
Not an actual wolf!! The mother was a giantess, if I remember the stories correctly? I'm not sure exactly how that worked out that the son was a wolf, though. The actual weirder tale is one where he turned into a mare and gave birth to an eight-legged horse. I think the father actually was a stallion in that case.
I am... guessing that, maybe, our sagas got it a little wrong ???
[ Brig's trying to be polite, but she is cracking the fuck up. ]

The more you relay the stories your people have of my brother, the better they become.
He helps father a giant wolf with a GIANTESS, though no one is sure how it is that their offspring turned out a wild CANINE. AND he turned into a horse — a MARE no less — and somehow became impregnated with an eight-legged horse??????????????????????? OUR FATHER WOULD BE HORRIFIED IF THAT IS HOW HE WAS TO BECOME A GRANDFATHER!
My belly hurts from laughter!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am like this: XD XD XD XD XD XD (you have to turn your head sideways to see that properly; the X is the eyes and the D is the laughing mouth). I MUST RELAY THESE STORIES TO MY BROTHER. YOUR SAGAS ARE WONDERFUL, AND I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR MORE OF THEM.

There's one where a giant stole your hammer, and demanded Freya as a prize. But to sneak around it, the gods dressed you up in a dress, sent you to the wedding with Loki as your bridesmaid, and played along with the disguise until you got hold of Mjolnir and could fight your way back out. Did that actually happen??

I was about to ask if there were any legends about me that you could share. Hopefully not ones in which I father ridiculous creatures that would make my father banish me for a second time.
[It takes him a few minutes to finish his message because he can't stop laughing.]
What an adventure!!! It sounds like a very good time! Unfortunately, nothing like that has happened to me. I don't know who "Freya" might be? Unless I have ANOTHER sister I do not yet know of (I really, really, really hope that is not the case). I bet I looked stunning in a wedding dress! :D

But: no trysts with animals, thankfully. That I know of.
[ It's still slightly bizarre, sharing these stories that are ostensibly about him and his brother -- her mother had read them to her as a child, and now here she is comparing notes with the actual god. ]

I would be disappointed in a bride who couldn't eat an entire ox by herself. It's a point of pride for we Asgardians! How else do you think our feasts have acquired such legendary tales?
And Loki going along with the plan with absolutely nothing in it to gain for himself???????? This is indeed a tale I must remember to tell him later on, as I'm sure I will have to remind him of this lesson many times over before either of us manage to leave the village.
... In addition to all of his strange bestiality and non-human offspring. Because those are tales that I will gladly tell whomever will listen for here into eternity. Those are magnificent.

:D That is how that makes me feel! I'm so happy to have been able to make you laugh! I know that life here can be tough sometimes, and I know that it's easy to get sad about things. I consider you a friend, and I hope that you feel free to consider me the same!
And since you're my friend, I don't want you to be sad!
You, too, have brought me great laughter! These stories that you know of me and my family are some of the most fascinating and hilarious things I've ever heard. Please, know that you can tell me ANY of them, especially about my brother, whenever you want.

And of course I consider you a friend. Technically kind of a coworker, sure, but more importantly a friend.

You could always come up with some of your own! Or perhaps we can spin some tales together, purely for the sake of entertainment! Loki will be less enthused, but then again, he always is when it comes to things like having fun.
[Thor loves his brother, really.]
Yes, a coworker and a friend. :) I like to think of it as we are friends who also happen to work together. Sort of like how me and Bruce and me and Tony are!

I do try to be as friendly as I can with as many people as I can! Why not? The more friends has, the more allies one has! Plus, it's nice to have lots of friends. :) As you can imagine, living in Asgard, we are always surrounded by people. It's weird to be so alone now.
Tony and I had a rough beginning when we first met, but I think we can safely say that we're friends now. Which is very good! I'm very happy for it. We were on this team called the Avengers together. We were sort of put in charge of saving Earth a few times. It was me, Tony, Bruce, Natalie, Steve (who isn't here anymore), and Clint (who I'm told used to be here some time ago).
[No need to mention that his brother was the reason they'd been called together in the first place ..]
We were a very good team! We all had our own strengths and abilities, so we balanced each other out very well, I think.
