Having a bit of a problem getting to sleep, and I don't have access to the old methods of dealing with it here. Unless sleep powder is still a thing and people are hiding it.

Anyway, basically what I'm looking for is any remedies or advice people might have for getting to sleep. Or possibly a sparring partner to at least exhaust me to the point of passing out.

Or bedtime stories. There's no books, but bedtime stories are nice, good way to learn about other people's worlds and all that.

They are rather small, but their teeth are quite sharp and strong.

Thanks. Tell me if you do. My work doesn't have much in the way of fuzzy things that aren't domesticated. Sorta a side effect of monsters.

I don't know, it's just what it is. I mean, we had cats and dogs. Some really protected farms with livestock. But no wild fuzzies.

Oh. That. Yeah, they were annoying. Good thing I was a monster hunter.

I have heard of people hunting many things, but never monsters. What means would you use against them?

[Well, the guy hasn't asked his age so he's not getting judged and Nida's happy about all of this. Happy to talk about this.]

Well, I wasn't the best spell caster so I was a weapons user. All sorts of polearms. I'm pretty partial to a halberd, but it depended on the creature. Sometimes you need to stab, so more spearlike. Sometimes slash, so naginata.

[Connor can't even judge. He was 13 out hunting and stabbing bears in the face.]

I have not heard of most of those. Nor have I ever seen someone fight with a spear. It would be interesting to see.

[Nida would be impressed if he knew what a bear was.]

It's a lot of fun. Because you've got the haft of the weapon for strikes and blocks. And the tip for cutting and stabbing. More the latter of course. I'm trying to make practice staffs, but nice spear points aren't easy.

I would be interested in learning if you do not mind teaching me once you have completed them.

If I could ever get them made, I would be happy to teach you. I'm a bit shocked how many people are looking to learn a bit about fighting with effectively a long stick or a stick with a point.

It seems as though it could be useful. It is always wise to keep your distance from an enemy.

See, that was my point. A more tactical weapon. But also improvement of force through leverage.

It is more practical than wasting arrows.

[Making arrows here was a pain.]

Not as good for hunting, though. Well, except for boars and the like. Those really benefit from a proper spear.
