hey so.

I had a weird dream. You and Anne were trying to convince Venom to reveal itself on camera. I know that Venom asked Anne to come but ever since this every time he's clammed up. Only answers yes or no. Seems super worried about me. I've tried to leave the house and talk to people three times and nearly barked at them.

I'm not mad. Just...trying to put together what happened. Did this thing I dream actually happen?

Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday. I honestly don't know what it means, but there's a menorah and they give gifts for 8 nights. I guess they get the best presents on the last night...?

Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ our lord and savior. For those who believe in that sorta thing. He uh-It's basically winter solstice but it deals with the church and there's a tree and presents too.

So...essentially one is a super canonized version of your winter solstice and the other is a super cool religious holiday that has centuries of tradition.

Religious holidays? Huh. Interesting. And Winter Solstice has more than centuries of tradition. You should see it in Trabia. They have this festival for the arts. The city is decorated with icicles. Glass and metal and stone or wood. All polished to a sparkle. I've seen pictures. It's probably really stunning.

I guess religious holidays don't process for me. We don't really have religions.

...In sweden there's the Gavle Goat. It's a giant homage to this goat that delivers presents.

No no no. They worship a goat that delivers presents every Christmas with God's blessing.

But even when you put it that way you say they worship a goat. Like, a real goat? That someone has to tether? Do they bring it food?

The Yule Goat is a germanic - pagan tradition. It's tied to the worship of the God Thor, who apparently is a real person in our reality. See legend said he rode in a chariot across the sky drawn by two goats. People adopted the goat as a sign of good luck.

So. For some people - they'd dress as the goat and give their kids gifts. Sort of like St. Nick, the Catholic Saint who gave kids gifts at Christmas.

The Gavle Goat - is a big straw goat they build to honor the yule goat. Its not real. They burn it down every year.

Nida is resisting asking how goats fly and pull a chariot.

What does pagan mean? And I'm not going to ask why they burn something they worship in effigy.

I think maybe it's best my world didn't go and worship our creator.

Pagan means before the church. Anything that doesn't follow the church's teachings. It's more like...earth instead of Christ and things like that.

Hyne. Who created the world, made humanity as tools so he didn't have to do the world, and fell asleep. And when he woke back up he was so annoyed by how humanity had multipled that he smote them. Oh, and ate children. Until we fought back, almost killed him. Hyne gave half of his power to humans in exchange for escaping. And he's never been seen since. Oh, and he lied and ran off with all of his power.

Many of them have tried to take over the world, so not the greatest.

Yes, it really is. But things are a bit of a mess for all of us. I can't imagine a lot of us come from good places right now.

The holidays are a shitty time for everybody. This one doubly so. My friend was in the house that burned down.

Seven? She's your friend? Has she found a safe place to stay? She seemed so shocked by it all. I was really worried.

I'm glad. Uh... Is that okay? She seemed so out of it. Her house burned down and she just... well, I was concerned. As for bringing anything, well, I've got fire wood. A lot actually. Easier to stock it up quickly so I can take breaks to gather other things too.
