Will you stop shouting? The devices--

[There's the unmistakable sound of a branch snapping, a grunt layered over the sounds of someone scrambling for purchase, and Loki swears]

--work just as well without you attempting to be heard from the cosmos.

[There are also some sounds of Thor's mother-hen-like worry and general sense of unease at the sound of the branch snapping. Banner's fretting must be wearig off on him.]

But you are so high, brother! The cosmos does not need to hear me, but you do!

[There's a sigh and it sounds more than just a little irritated.]

Then it would benefit me greatly, wouldn't it, for you to speak at a reasonable volume so that I may focus on the task at hand.

I am speaking at a reasonable volume, given your — very great distance from the ground!

[Thor's wringing his hands with nervous energy, and it's evident in his voice that he's more than anxious.]

Please do remember that we can be injured and die here! With none of our previous godly powers to aid us!

[It's impossible to mishear the anxiety in his brother's tone and he can already picture the sight Thor must make somewhere below him, pacing trenches into the earth in worry. Loki rolls his eyes so hard it's probably audible]

Yes, thank you, brother, for the endless reminders. I may have--

[A grunt as Loki makes a leap for the thick branch above him in a move risk enough Thor's soul might have left his body to witness it, and there's a small shower of leaves and twigs that fall below him as he struggles up onto the bough.]

--forgotten entirely without persistent fussing.

[This was so much easier when he was a child.]

Have you considered how much more useful you would be walking the perimeter of the area rather than clucking after me like a nursemaid?

[If Thor was a fainter, he'd be a heap of muscle and bone on the ground just about now. As it is, it takes all his strength to keep his knees from buckling.]

Yes, but what if you fall, brother? It is a long way down, and if I am standing here at the bottom, then at least I can — ow! [Some words that sound suspiciously like Old Norse come fluttering out of Thor's mouth.] If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought you threw that pine cone down to hit me in the eye on purpose.

Would you like me to throw another? Perhaps I'll manage to successfully stopper that mouth you refuse to silence.

[He sounds more than a little out of breath, which is irritating, and he takes a moment to rest as he gauges how good of a sightline he's managed to find.]

I'm nearly to the top. I'll be back on the ground soon enough.

I'd suggest a game of catch with the pinecone if you weren't so perilously high and far from the ground. And needing your hands and limbs to be gripping branches.

[Thor starts fiddling with the hem of his shirt. He's not one to get anxious, generally speaking, but being human presents a whole new set of complications with which he doesn't really know how to deal. Namely: dying, and in the stupidest, easiest ways.] Can you see where we are?
