Hello everyone, this is Foggy with some questions of an adult nature for th adults of this community. Would those who are under the age of majority in their home please not continue on here, or do so aware that this is adult in nature.



Right, now that it's just us...

I have some questions about sexual health and this place. We come from a variety of worlds and times, and that means a variety of possible diseases and the ever possible pregnancy from the right sorts of activities.

Has anyone gathered information about STDs and this place? There's not a lot in the way of medicine, so it's something we need to keep on top of, especially with people coming and going with no warning.

And pregnancy. Is there some sort of protection people are using? Are we being safe, people?

We're adults. I know we're having sex. But we need to make sure everyone's safe and frankly, that we're not having babies in this place.

Same reasons people ever have sex, I guess. Because they love each other. Or they feel like it. It's fun. It makes you feel better. There's a lot of usual reasons.

I don't think you get a choice about getting emotionally involved. And getting involved with people can give you support, a network and lets you help others in return. You don't need to have sex to get emotionally involved. And you don't need to be emotionally involved to have sex.

[ Part of that explanation sounds flat out wrong, to Maine. Of course people can choose to not get emotionally involved. It's easy. But he reads it all, frowning slightly as he does so.

In the end, he's still confused. ]

So why fuck? Don't need to.

For all the reasons I listed above. It feels good. It can help sometimes. Some people are already involved, or get involved. It's good stress relief, can be warming, there's lots of reasons people have sex and why sex can be really good for people, emotionally and physically.

[ Maine sits with that for a while, considering. Personally, he's not concerned about pregnancy or STDs; he can't get anyone pregnant, and he's been vaccinated against more diseases than he can count. Not that he's even remotely interested in sex with some stranger. He still doesn't get why people here would rather claw for emotional connection than focus on survival, but...

You're welcome. Maybe next time you want someone to explain something, try being a bit nicer to them? No one owes you explanations, so softening the way you ask makes them more amenable to answering.

A little bit. Tactless maybe. Or blunt. Words are powerful, you should use them carefully.

[ He chooses them carefully. Doesn't waste them. Stringing together more than three in a single sentence is, for Maine, a sign that he's making a concerted effort to get his point across.

But he is blunt. He knows that much. Still, he didn't intend to be rude. ]

It's okay. I don't take offence easily and once I realised you were just a bit blunt in asking, I didn't mind helping. Just, add a please when you ask someone to explain and it will make them much happier to help.
