I'm not sure if this is a sign from whatever fuckers are up there that they don't like my lack of shaving, but I got a box of razors and shaving cream. I guess if you want one come ask, and if we run out people can share.

I guess since I'm here, I know some of us are dead in our world, not sure if people are handling it well or care or whatever, but maybe people who want to talk about it could meet up.

That first offer sounds about as lovely as it gets, I just hope the razors are at least three blade. I have no clue what they were like back in this time period.

And if that's a thing that is going to happen, I wouldn't mind sitting in. It's a bit fresh for me right now. Not to mention sort of confusing.

Yeah weirdly they're actually pretty good, not an electric kind or anything, but up to my era of 2012. Go figure.

I mean I've been here like two months and it's still fucked up.

Okay, so only half a millennium behind me, give or take several decades. Should hopefully still work. I've got unfortunately sensitive skin.

I'm not sure if talking about it is going to be helpful, but it probably won't hurt.

Shaving cream. Gift of the gods. Unless your sister decides to play a prank. Then it's just frustrating.

I can think of a lot of things that might hurt, but strangely talking about it isn't on that list.

I wouldn't know, but siblings are like that from what I've heard.

I'm not sure. A friend of mine tried to talk to some people about what happened to her, and it didn't make it all better, but I think talking about it was good for her, so.

Whatever you've heard, multiply it by two. That's my twin.

I mean, I hear that there are support groups for that back in the colonies. For people whose planets got glasses and they're the last survivor of their family. Not quite the same, but the principle is roughly in line.

Yeah I mean dead seems like an obvious requirement for this group, but I mean, if someone had a near death experience or went through trauma of some kind that would be fine to come to this too.

I'm definitely dead, so I will look the group up if it happens.

There's a part of me half wondering if this isn't some sort of purgatory. Never was very religious, but this place makes me wonder.

Yeah purgatory was my first thought too. There's really nothing to refute it, outside of this being one weird purgatory.

I've ever run into someone I sort of need to make amends with, so it has that going for it.

However, the issue is whether an AI has a soul.

No idea. Maybe? I mean, who even knows what a soul is.

Because, well, Theta probably got deleted when I died, and yet...

Well, he says he hopes you feel better about the dying. Suggests that a puppy be brought to whatever meeting you might have. But he's got a thing about dogs.

Oh. Yeah, therapy dogs are a thing. Thanks I guess? You have an AI with you?

Yeah. His full designation is Artificial Intelligence Fragment Theta, but of course we only called him Theta. He wants me to say hi to you Desmond. That he likes your sentence structure too.

That's cool. I've never met an AI. What's with the fragment part? Aren't they usually whole?

[duel_wielding]

Yeah, they are usually whole. Theta and his siblings aren't, though. They were fragmented from a full and true Smart AI. But he's still his own person. Sort of like... multiple personalities. Of which Theta was one.

Oh. Huh. So the AI wealth could be spread around?

That was the unfortunate intention. And execution basically amounted to mental torture.

It sounds mad science-y.

Yeah. It was. The guy who did it was a real peace of work that effectively ruined my life and the lives of those important to me.

All in the name of survival.

Yeah it smacked of that kind of narcissism. Survival from what?

You have no idea how much.

The destruction of our entire species.

He was trying to find a way to make sure we won a war for Humanity's sake.
